Firming Up Your Christian Faith

Believe in God is the fundamental teaching of the Christian faith, without this firm belief a Christian has no direction to walk to. To firm one’s belief the first priority is to build the basic foundation of that belief and the definition of faith that came from the sacred Bible itself is: “Faith is the substance of things hoped for, and the evidence of things not [yet] seen” (Hebrews 11:1).

Faith is also quoted in the Holy Bible as a fruit or quality imparted by God’s Holy Spirit (1 Corinthians 12:9; Galatians 5:22). The first quoted verse tells us that the Christian belief requires believing in God and the fate He has created and in the second verse faith is describe as the origin of God itself. It is said that the believer needs to have a firm faith to pass through trials in life and to build that firm faith he needs to trust the Almighty.

In order to build firm belief in God and the faith in Christianity, one should begin with committing himself to the mercy of the Almighty. Surrendering yourself to His Will brings upon greater blessings towards you and surrender means obeying Gods commands. Obeying them and putting them above all your priorities and feelings.

Martin Luther’s famous saying about faith is that: “Faith is a living unshakable confidence”. By this, we understand that a firm faith is the one that is not shaken by any storm which come into one’s life as a test.

Mark Twain quoted about the Faith saying, “Faith is believing in what ain’t so.” Thus making it clear that believe in God and our creator who exists but is unseen is pertinent.

The earlier Christians relied directly on the apostles’ and prophets’ teachings about Christ and exposition of the Old Testament Scriptures (Acts 17:2-3). When the apostles and prophets passed on, they left us the  Holy Bible, that teaches us what Christ taught and teaches us not only what to believe but how to live (2 Timothy 3:16-17).

Faith is also bestowed upon people by God himself, it is a blessing that everyone gets but to maintain and increase that firm believe one must always have a connection with its spirit. The spirit has the connection with God and this is the basic fundamental of firm faith in the Almighty and the faith of Christianity.

Steps to Strengthen Your Christian Faith

Everyone lives with one or another belief all one’s life, some believe firmly in money, power, status while others believe in themselves, love, and God. Believes at times, changes and no matter what you believe in sometimes it gets shaken. Being a Christian and believe in The God Almighty requires having a firm and lasting trust in Him. Being an imperfect human with limited capabilities requires strengthening one’s belief from time to time to understand the fate God has created thus becoming a better believer than one was yesterday.

To strengthen the Christian Faith:

Be conscious

Being conscious of oneself makes one believe that he has a purpose in life and that God has created him for more than just earning money, eating, and sleeping. When you are conscious about yourself, you also become more conscious about the Almighty, his commands and your duties that need fulfilling in this life. Being conscious of the soul that resides in you and feeding the soul as it reaches to God. This everlasting consciousness of the soul builds a strong belief in God and Faith in Christianity.

Be grateful

Nothing strengthens the faith more than being grateful for what you have. When you are grateful to God and his blessings upon you, you tend to be conscious about little things that God has given you. You also become grateful to people around you, you give to people who deserve and are less privileged, which makes you understanding, forgiving, and hopeful towards life. God loves those who are grateful towards him and his people and this is the best way to obey his commands.

Be forgiving

God is All-Merciful and All-Forgiving and He has given us a trait of His to adopt in life. When we disobey the Almighty, we feel guilty and so we turn towards Him to ask forgiveness in hope that He would forgive. Sometimes, even when we do not ask forgiveness the Almighty knows the resentment in our hearts and forgives us for it. When we hope for forgiveness from others and God, we should be forgiving towards others. Forgiving yourself and others is an essential part of Christian belief. Holding grudges create regrets in hearts of the believer and regret weakens the faith while forgiveness strengthens it.

Be hopeful

Hope is the foundation of life and we all must have a firm believe in it, one that is hopeless is not a true believer. He doubts the Will of the Almighty, which is a sin. A hopeful person believes in the God’s Will and he is aware of the fact that he Almighty knows what is best for him and trust the timings of His plan. One should always hold on to hope in life and know that after the trails, there is ease and after the storms, there is sunshine. Hope strengths faith and a Christian heart is always filled with firm believe in God.

Keep praying

Prayer is the fundamental of any religion, it is a way to convey your feelings to the Almighty, although it is not in a doubt that God already isn’t aware of what is in the heart but prayer builds a strong connection with the Almighty. Anyone who prays has all the above-mentioned virtuous traits; he is conscious, grateful, forgiving, and hopeful. Prayer is the key to strengthening your faith in Christianity.
